1002-44 Now, that’s no evidence of the Holy Ghost. See? You can’t rely upon that. You can’t rely upon the fruit of the Spirit, because the first fruit of the Spirit is love. And the Christian Science exercise more love than anybody I know of, and they even deny Jesus Christ being Divine. See? There’s only one evidence of the Holy Spirit that I know of, and that is a genuine faith in the promised Word of the hour.

Now, those Jews come; they had more religion than the disciples had. They were better trained men in the Scriptures than the disciples was, because they were fishermen, tax collectors, and so forth. And they had real faith and genuine faith in what they were doing. Now, listen closely now; don’t miss this. See? When it come to being fruits of the Spirit, kind and gentle, I guess there wasn’t a one of those priest but what could outshine Jesus Christ in it. He went to the temple, plaited ropes, looked upon them with anger, and turned over their tables, and run them out of the place. Is that right? The Bible said He looked upon them with anger. The Bible said that. That’s exactly right.

204 A sheep has wool. That’s the only thing it has. And it can’t manufacture that wool. We’re not asked to manufacture the fruit of the Spirit, but to bear the fruit of the Spirit. And as long as it’s a sheep, it’ll bear. It don’t have to manufacture. The glands and everything in it is sheep, it’ll make wool because the inside of him has the glands and the adrenalin and stuff it takes to make wool.

205 And when you are a Christian, you’ll cope with the Word. I don’t care what anybody else says. You don’t have to work up nothing, and bring down nothing, pull, pump up. You’re a Christian. You just automatically bear the fruit of the Spirit. See? See, and that’s the way it is. See?

E-14 Now, the initial and original way to receive any redemptive blessing is by hearing the Word of God, because faith cometh by hearing, hearing the Word of God, like the ministers preach. If that were you and I, that would be sufficient. If the people didn’t want to believe us, why we just let them go on. But God is so good, and so full of mercy, till after all that He sent His Word, then He sent gifts into the church. We all believe that. I Corinthians 12, there is nine spiritual gifts in the church. That’s in every local body, or should be in every local body, the gifts of healing, the gift of wisdom, the gifts of knowledge, the gift of a–a all these other gifts is in the church. Nine different spiritual gifts is in every local body.

Then God has gifts that He has foreknown for each age and has placed them into the church. Now, we find out there’s five of those gifts. The first of them is missionaries or apostles. The word “apostle” means “one sent.” The word “missionary” means “one sent.” A missionary is sent, and apostle is sent. God sends His missionary; God sends His apostles.

35 Now if it would be you or I, if we sent our word, and sovereign like God, well, if people didn’t want to believe it, they wouldn’t have to; after all, it’s them sick. But not God.

36 He also set in the Church, apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, and evangelists, see, all that for the perfecting of the Body. And in this Body, every local body, He gave nine spiritual gifts, and those gifts are–are different kinds; wisdom, knowledge, speaking in tongues, gifts of healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth; nine spiritual gifts, all to show His love towards the Church, see, that He wants you to stay in order, the great Holy Spirit Himself being the Tutor of the Church. It’s too bad we took a bishop instead of the Holy Spirit, to be our tutor, see. But we–we… The Holy Spirit is the Tutor that God gave to the Church, to raise the Church, to bring it up in the admonition of God. So the Holy Spirit freely sets these gifts in the Church, and they perfectly operate, if you just won’t get excited and try to just take what you think yourself.

5 MINISTERING GIFTS FOR THE PERFECTION, EDIFYING AND KEEPING THE ORDER OF THE CHURCH.

EPHESIANS 4:13

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

E-89 Now, the Bible said that Jesus Christ is the High Priest right now (You believe it?), High Priest that can be touched by the feeling of our infirmities. Is that right?

Well, if He’s the same High Priest, how would He act? The same as He did then. That’d make Him the same High Priest, yesterday, today, and forever. Just, there’s no way of getting away from it. The… If the Bible declares anything, it’s the truth. Is that right?

Now, what–what happens here? Now, a gift… Now, the Bible said (for these minister brothers), the Bible said that God has set in the church five different gifts. Is that right? God has. Now, there’s nine gifts in the–in the local church just on one or the other, but five ministerial gifts: apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists. Is that right? Five spiritual gifts. Now, those gifts are for the perfecting of the church, to keep the church in order–pastors, and teachers, and evangelists, and prophets, and so forth. Now, it’s gifts.
